Bhopal, April 3 (NationPress) The final ceremonies for two young children, aged 5 and 8, who tragically lost their lives in a firecracker factory incident in Banaskantha district of Gujarat, were conducted on Thursday at Nemawar ghat along the Narmada river in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh.

Additionally, two other victims, aged 11 and 12, were also among those who perished in the explosion that rocked a firecracker factory in Deesa, Banaskantha.

Authorities have reported that two individuals who died have yet to be identified and are pending DNA testing.

All victims hailed from Harda and Dewas districts in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident transpired at 8 a.m. last Tuesday in Deesa, near Banaskantha, when a catastrophic boiler explosion resulted in such extensive destruction that some of the victims' remains were dismembered and scattered up to 50 meters away.

Among those who perished from Sandalpur in Dewas district were: Kesharbai (50), Lakhan (24), Sunita (20), Radha (11), Rkma (8), Abhishek (5), Rakesh (30), Lali (25), Kiran (5), and a contractor. Meanwhile, eight others from Handia tehsil in Harda district included Guddi (30), Vijay (17), Ajay (16), Krishna (12), Vishnu (18), Suresh (25), Babita (30), and Dhanraj (18).

The state government, through the district administration, oversaw the final rites at Nemawar ghat along the Narmada river in Harda district.

Reports indicate that remains of several victims were also found in a field behind the factory.

The victims included eight workers from Handia tehsil in Harda district, nine from Sandalpur in Dewas, and a contractor from Khategaon.

Furthermore, eight workers sustained injuries, with three reported to be in critical condition.

The District Collector of Dewas shared a list of the victims on social media.

DNA testing has been carried out to identify two bodies that were initially unrecognizable, according to an official.

Chief Ministers from both states—Mohan Yadav and Bhupendra Patel—have announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased, along with Rs 50,000 for the injured.
