Bengaluru, Sep 9 (NationPress) In light of the violent incidents during the Maddur Ganesh visarjan, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that stringent legal measures will be enforced against those responsible for the chaos, prioritizing justice over caste or religious affiliations.
As of now, twenty-one individuals have been detained in connection with the violence.
The Chief Minister addressed the media on Tuesday at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.
In response to the BJP's initiative to organize a foot march ('padyatra') towards Maddur regarding the violence, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, “The BJP's main goal is to instigate unrest within the community. They also held an event named 'Chamundi Betta Chalo' in Mysuru, which had participation from RSS members across various regions such as Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar. This involvement in creating disturbances led the police to deny permission for the Chamundi Betta Chalo event.”
The BJP has called for a bandh (shutdown) in Maddur. The Chief Minister reiterated that regardless of the political party or community tied to the violence, decisive legal action will be pursued.
In response to the BJP's appeal to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the decline of law and order in the state, the Chief Minister asserted that maintaining peace is the duty of the state government.
He questioned the BJP's silence during the national farmers' protests, highlighting that many farmers perished without any BJP leader vocalizing concern. He also pointed out the lack of attention from the Prime Minister during the violence in Manipur.
A meeting with the ruling party's members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) was conducted on Tuesday.
Following a similar approach to the district MLAs, a meeting is scheduled for Wednesday with MLAs from Bengaluru Urban. An allocation of Rs 8,000 crore has been set aside for developmental initiatives across various constituencies. A request for funding for the constituencies of MLCs was also made, with assurances that allocations will be considered from the Rs 8,000 crore budget.
