The incident occurred on Monday evening in a mixed-use residential and commercial building.
The fire that triggered the explosion is thought to have originated from furniture stored within the residence, which quickly escalated the flames.
As reported by officials, two children who suffered critical injuries have been transferred to Ummed Hospital from the MGH Burn Unit, where the majority of the injured are currently receiving treatment.
Fire brigade teams responded promptly and were able to extinguish the flames. However, family members are concerned that one individual may still be trapped inside the building. The victims have been identified as Hashim (14 months) and Sadiya.
Mohammad Imran, a local resident from Nagauri Gate, revealed that preparations were being made for a family gathering intended for 20–25 people who were about to embark on Umrah (a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina).
At approximately 4:30 p.m., a gas leak occurred during cooking, igniting a fire that spread rapidly due to the abundance of flammable furniture in the home.
Residents of the property are reportedly engaged in furniture making.
Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agarwal mentioned that 12 individuals experienced breathing issues from smoke inhalation, but the fire has been contained.
He assured that government support will be extended to the impacted families.

The Chief Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of life.
Offering heartfelt condolences for the unfortunate event, Sharma prayed for the souls of the departed and wished for a quick recovery for the injured, instructing officials to ensure they receive appropriate and timely medical attention.
