Kolkata, Nov 12 (NationPress) A devastating explosion has left the village of Rameshwarpur in Murshidabad under a cloud of mystery, claiming the life of a three-year-old girl and inflicting serious injuries on five others.

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. within the residence of Anisur Sheikh, which was completely destroyed by the subsequent fire.

At the time of the blast, six individuals, including four women, a child, and Sheikh himself, were present in the house. A neighboring resident also sustained injuries.

Panic ensued as locals hurried to the scene, heightened by the recent car bomb explosion in Delhi.

Emergency responders and local residents collaborated to rescue the victims from the flames. All six were initially transported to Gokarna Block Primary Health Centre; five were subsequently moved to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital, where the child tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Medical staff have reported that the condition of the remaining victims is considered “very critical.”

The injured individuals have been identified as Ahladi Bibi, Ruli Bibi, Amina Parveen (3), Nurjahan Khatun, Anisur Sheikh alias Dalim, and Rizba Bibi.

Murshidabad Superintendent of Police Kumar Sunny Raj confirmed the child's death and indicated that early investigations suggest a cooking gas cylinder explosion.

“We are thoroughly investigating the entire incident,” he noted.

However, local residents challenge the official narrative, asserting that the force of the explosion implies the presence of chemicals or bomb-making materials in the house.

Authorities have not dismissed the possibility of foul play and are exploring all avenues of inquiry.
