Shimla, Jan 15 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, six family members lost their lives in a devastating fire that erupted early Thursday at their home in Talagna village, located in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, as reported by local authorities.

One individual managed to escape the flames during the incident, which unfolded around 2 a.m. at the residence of Mohan Singh.

The fire spread rapidly, giving the trapped family members little opportunity to evacuate.

The deceased have been identified as Naresh, his wife Tripta, a relative named Kavita, and their three children, Sarika, Kritika, and Kritik.

The bodies were so severely burned that identification was challenging, according to officials.

The only survivor, Lokender, who is Kavita's husband, was rescued by villagers in a critical state and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Solan.

Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, which was further exacerbated by the explosion of an LPG cylinder, completely destroying the house. Additionally, reports indicate that some livestock perished in the blaze.

This marks the second significant fire incident in the state this week; earlier, a large fire in Arki town of the Solan district resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals.

As of now, some individuals remain unaccounted for, and DNA profiling is being conducted to confirm the identities of the victims.

The main opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has expressed its condolences regarding this incident.

BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with other prominent party members, has extended their sympathies and prayers for the victims’ families.

In a statement, BJP's State President Rajiv Bindal remarked, “The news of this heartbreaking fire in the Nohradhar area of Sirmaur is profoundly distressing. The untimely demise of six family members is a significant loss for the entire state. We pray for the peace of the departed souls and hope for the swift recovery of the injured.”

The BJP has urged the district administration to provide all necessary support, compensation, and rehabilitation for the affected family at the earliest.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to stand by the grieving family during this challenging time.

Point of View

It is crucial to acknowledge the impact such events have on communities. While the immediate focus is on the victims and their families, we must also address the broader implications for fire safety regulations in residential areas. The loss of life in such preventable circumstances calls for urgent attention from authorities to ensure future tragedies are averted.
