New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) — The Government announced on Tuesday that all gas refineries across the nation are functioning at full capacity, with 18,700 tonnes of commercial LPG lifted as of Monday.
During an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma, the Joint Secretary of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, Marketing and Oil Refinery, stated that the refineries are operating efficiently and that the country possesses adequate stocks of petrol and diesel.
The government is actively promoting the expansion of piped natural gas (PNG) connections throughout the country.
“Yesterday, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) issued directives for city gas distribution (CGD) companies to establish PNG connections for residential schools, colleges, ‘anganwadi’ kitchens, and other facilities within a five-day period where connectivity exists,” she noted during the briefing.
Sharma reported that 7,500 domestic and commercial PNG connections were established on Monday across the top 110 geographical areas.
She emphasized that India has over 100,000 petrol stations that are primarily operating without issues, ensuring sufficient petrol and diesel supplies are available.
The government is taking measures to secure LPG supplies and is working diligently to diversify its supply sources to maintain stability. She also called on state governments to enhance their monitoring and enforcement systems to facilitate smooth distribution.
“We have ample stocks of LNG,” she affirmed.
In the first three weeks of March, more than 350,000 domestic and commercial piped natural gas (PNG) connections for cooking have been established by city gas distribution entities, while deliveries of domestic LPG cylinders are proceeding normally, and panic bookings have notably decreased.
Monitoring of LPG supply continues amidst the current geopolitical climate, with no dry-outs reported at distribution centers.
Moreover, Oil Marketing Companies have not reported any fuel dry-outs at retail outlets, and petrol and diesel supplies are being regularly maintained. Citizens are encouraged to refrain from panic buying as sufficient stocks are available.
Priority sectors continue to receive guaranteed supplies, including full supply to domestic PNG and CNG transport, while industrial and commercial consumers are receiving regulated supplies at approximately 80%.
