Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) on Thursday, 23 July said the state has made significant strides across sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, connectivity, tourism, and rural development over the past decade, building a strong base for inclusive and sustained growth. The Governor's remarks came during a courtesy call by Chief Minister Pema Khandu at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, where the two held wide-ranging discussions on the state's development agenda.

Ten Years of Governance Reviewed

Governor Parnaik congratulated Chief Minister Khandu and 'Team Arunachal Pradesh' on completing ten years of public service and leadership. He noted that the government's people-centric approach has helped bring governance closer to citizens, particularly those in remote and border areas — regions that have historically been underserved due to difficult terrain and limited connectivity.

The Governor specifically appreciated the flagship programme Seva Aapke Dwar, describing it as a transformative initiative that delivers government services directly to citizens' doorsteps. He said such schemes have reinforced public trust and deepened the spirit of inclusive development across the state.

Push for Technology-Driven Administration

Lt Gen Parnaik also commended the state government's progress in e-governance and digital service delivery. He advocated wider use of geospatial applications, satellite imagery, and data analytics to strengthen planning, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects.

According to the Governor, these tools can enhance decision-making, improve disaster preparedness, optimise resource utilisation, and ensure timely delivery of welfare and infrastructure programmes — particularly critical for a state prone to natural disasters and climate-related disruptions, which also featured in Thursday's discussions.

₹2 Lakh Library Grant for Naharlagun School

In a separate event on the same day, Governor Parnaik handed over a cheque of ₹2 lakh to Abotani Vidya Niketan at Pachin Colony, Naharlagun, to support the strengthening and expansion of the school's library. The assistance was received by Vice Principal Yanya Karlo and Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) State Coordinator Sukumaran K.

The Governor had announced the grant during his visit to the school on 28 June. Highlighting the value of reading, he said a well-equipped library serves as a gateway to knowledge, broadens students' horizons, and inspires them to pursue their aspirations. He expressed concern over growing digital distractions and urged students to cultivate a regular reading habit, calling books 'lifelong companions' that build character and open doors to new ideas.

The Governor's engagement — spanning state development priorities, technology adoption, and grassroots education support — reflects a broader emphasis on strengthening governance in one of India's most strategically significant border states.
