Amaravati, Feb 24 (NationPress) The government of Andhra Pradesh has made remarkable progress in restoring the state from past misrule and misgovernance, with positive outcomes already visible, stated Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer (retd) on Monday.

In his speech delivered at the joint session of both legislative houses during the inaugural day of the Budget session, the Governor emphasized the initiatives undertaken by the TDP-led coalition government over the past eight months.

The Governor pointed out that the state is attracting major global corporations like Google, ArcelorMittal Steel Company, Tata Power, Greenko Group, BPCL, TCS, among others, with substantial investments. So far, investors have committed a total of Rs. 6.5 lakh crore, which could generate over 4 lakh jobs.

According to the first advance estimates for 2024-25, the economy of Andhra Pradesh has grown to Rs 16 lakh crore, up from Rs 14.22 lakh crore last year - showcasing an impressive nominal growth rate of 12.94 percent. The per capita income has also risen to Rs. 2.68 lakh, compared to Rs. 2.37 lakh the previous year. This advancement is driven by robust performances across all key sectors - agriculture and allied sectors have seen a growth of 15.86 percent, industries 6.71 percent, and services 11.70 percent,

He revealed that the government has revived 74 out of 93 Centrally sponsored schemes that were halted by the prior administration, clearing liabilities amounting to Rs. 9,371 crores. This has initiated further allocations from the Centre for current and upcoming years.

As promised by the NDA during the Assembly elections, the capital Amaravati and Polavaram irrigation projects have been reinstated. “The revival of the steel plant and the establishment of the Railway zone reflect our dedication to the populace of Andhra Pradesh. We have built a solid foundation by introducing 22 new policies aimed at fostering sustained growth and prosperity,”

Justice Abdul Nazeer (retd) stated that the government has undertaken decisive actions to meet commitments and improve citizens' lives, which include: abolishing the Land Titling Act, enhancing social security pensions to Rs 4,000, launching a Mega DSC for the recruitment of 16,347 teachers, reinforcing the education sector, conducting a Skill Census to evaluate and boost employment opportunities, revitalizing 204 Anna Canteens, enhancing rural infrastructure, pursuing a mission for pothole-free roads, and implementing a Free Sand Policy.

He affirmed that the government is dedicated to balancing development with welfare. Together, these efforts foster a virtuous cycle where progress is inclusive, sustainable, and transformative.

The Governor mentioned to the state legislature that Andhra Pradesh is harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize governance, industry, and economic growth.

The government has outlined 10 guiding principles that define its vision for a prosperous future for Swarna Andhra @2047. “By targeting a growth rate of over 15 percent, the state is leveraging its unique strengths to evolve into a Rs 308 lakh crore economy with a per capita income of Rs 58 lakh, aspiring to become 'Wealthy, Healthy, and Happy', sustainable, and the most livable society by 2047, marking a century of Independent India,”

He acknowledged that Andhra Pradesh’s expansive coastline, rich natural resources, and skilled workforce uniquely position it for growth in sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, semiconductor manufacturing, and high-value exports. The state must continue to promote innovation, invest in infrastructure, and cultivate a business-friendly atmosphere to attract both local and international investors.

He also stressed the importance of ensuring that growth is both sustainable and inclusive. The development of Andhra Pradesh must not come at the expense of its environment or exacerbate social inequalities,” he added.
