Gandhinagar, March 27 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has designated 21 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers as in-charge secretaries for several districts in a significant administrative initiative aimed at enhancing governance at the district level.
According to an order released on Friday, these appointments were made in light of the vacancies created by recent promotions, transfers, and retirements. The goal is to ensure that every district has robust administrative oversight.
Experienced officers from various departments have been tasked with district responsibilities to enable faster decision-making and more effective execution of government policies.
Key postings include: M. Thennarasan for Ahmedabad, Shalini Agarwal for Surat, P. Swaroop for Vadodara, Vinod Rao for Gandhinagar, Raj Kumar Beniwal for Kutch, Aarti Kanwar for Jamnagar, Ranjith Kumar J. for Mehsana, and P. Bharathi for Vav-Tharad.
Additional appointments include Avantika Singh Aulakh for Anand, Pravina D.K. for Banaskantha, Sandhya Bhullar for Bharuch, and Rajender Kumar for Morbi.
The in-charge secretaries are responsible for overseeing administrative functions and monitoring development initiatives in their respective districts, with a particular emphasis on advancing taluka development.
This initiative is designed to ensure that district-level administrative operations continue seamlessly and that decisions are made without delay.
These appointments are expected to bolster inter-departmental coordination and enhance the execution of government programs at the grassroots level.
Earlier this week, the state government also reallocated IAS officers at the district level, naming new collectors for three districts. P. B. Pandya has been appointed as Collector of Jamnagar, G. H. Solanki as Collector of Surendranagar, and Ravindra Khatale as Collector of Gandhinagar.
Officials emphasized that these administrative changes are part of routine adjustments aimed at ensuring continuity in district governance.
This reshuffle is taking place as the state gears up for local body elections anticipated next month, covering municipal corporations, municipalities, and panchayats throughout Gujarat.
