Gujarat's Police Force Sees Major Shakeup with 37 IPS Officers Transferred

Gandhinagar, March 6 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has executed a significant overhaul of the state's police force, facilitating the transfer of 37 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and allocating them new roles.
This realignment, effective immediately for the public good, encompasses a variety of promotions and demotions in order to strategically position officers at the appropriate ranks.
This reshuffle also occurs in anticipation of the forthcoming municipal corporation and district panchayat elections in key urban areas across the state.
Among the prominent changes, Nirlipt Rai, an IPS officer from the 2010 batch, has transitioned from his role at the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) in Gandhinagar to become the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Rajkot Range.
Meanwhile, Ashok Kumar, a 2003-batch IPS officer previously serving as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Rajkot Range, has been reassigned to the position of IGP for CID (Intelligence) in Gandhinagar.
Senior officer Dr. Shamsher Singh, from the 1991 batch, has been designated as the Director of Civil Defence as well as the Commandant General of Home Guards based in Ahmedabad. He recently returned to Gujarat after a stint with the Border Security Force and had been awaiting a new post since January.
In another significant appointment, Raghvendra Vatsa, a 2005-batch IPS officer, has moved from the position of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Surat to become the IGP of the Ahmedabad Range.
The administration has also established a new Banaskantha Range, bringing the total number of police ranges in the state to ten.
Parikshita Rathod, an IPS officer from the 2007 batch who was serving as the Inspector General of CID Crime, has now been appointed as IG of this newly created range.
Several other officers are also taking on new roles; for instance, Vidhi Chaudhary (2009 batch) has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of the Panchmahal–Godhra Range after her tenure as the Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) in Ahmedabad.
Dr. Leena Patil, a 2010-batch officer who was the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Law and Order) in Vadodara, has been reassigned to the Gujarat Police Academy.
A new Zone-8 has been established within the Ahmedabad police structure, with Mayur Patil appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for this newly formed zone.
Additional changes include Makrand Chauhan being promoted to the rank of IGP and appointed as DIG (Law and Order) in Gandhinagar, while Wabang Jamir is currently awaiting a posting.
Numerous officers have also been elevated to significant positions across Surat, Vadodara, and the state’s intelligence and anti-corruption units as part of this administrative revamp.
