Ahmedabad, Nov 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, is set to launch the state's 13th state-of-the-art bus port in Navsari on November 25. This significant initiative aims to upgrade conventional bus stations into airport-style public transport hubs.
The newly constructed facility covers 5,025 square meters and has been developed at a cost of Rs 82 crore. The inauguration will take place with the attendance of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and other prominent members of the Gujarat cabinet.
This project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of providing world-class amenities to all citizens, ensuring that bus travelers, particularly from middle- and lower-income backgrounds, enjoy the same level of comfort as air travelers.
In line with this vision, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) is transforming bus stations into high-quality bus ports through public-private partnerships.
The new bus port in Navsari will offer luxurious waiting areas, reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water, departmental stores, refreshment canteens, wheelchair accessibility for Divyang individuals, and a modern security system with CCTV surveillance.
To date, 12 such bus ports have been established throughout Gujarat, with ongoing efforts to expand this model. In larger urban areas, bus ports are being enhanced with additional facilities like movie theaters, banquet halls, and shopping centers, creating vibrant public spaces that serve both commuters and local businesses.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for 5 PM on November 25, will also feature the presence of Finance and Urban Development Minister Kanu Desai, Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel, and Minister of State for Transport Pravin Mali, along with regional MPs and MLAs.
Under the Chief Minister’s guidance, Gujarat’s initiative for modern, well-equipped bus ports is revolutionizing the travel experience in the state—offering enhanced comfort for passengers, creating new business opportunities for vendors, and generating job prospects for youth and women.
With improved connectivity and upgraded travel infrastructure, Gujarat is further establishing itself as a burgeoning transport hub.
