Patan, March 27 (NationPress) A newly inaugurated bus port in Patan is set to manage approximately 850 bus trips each day and is projected to cater to over 20,000 passengers daily, following its launch on Friday through a public-private partnership.
This facility, developed by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) in partnership with Katira Construction (Patan) Pvt. Ltd., was officially opened by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
During the inauguration, he unveiled a commemorative plaque after a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and announced the introduction of three new air-conditioned buses for the district.
Sanghavi stated that this initiative embodies the developmental vision put forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We are constantly striving to ensure amenities reach every part of the state. This new bus port in Patan stands as a testament to that vision,” he remarked.
He confirmed that services from the port would commence the next day, with a total of 850 bus arrivals and departures, while reiterating the state’s ambition to deliver public transport services to 30 lakh passengers daily by 2027.
Post-inauguration, Sanghavi visited the Kalika Mata temple in the vicinity to offer his prayers.
According to officials, the bus port spans roughly 15,974 square meters and was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 17 crore.
The facility includes modern amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort and safety.
In-charge Minister Swarupji Thakor characterized the inauguration as a crucial achievement for the district.
“This new bus port is not merely a structure but marks the beginning of a new phase in Patan’s growth. It will ensure a safe, comfortable, and convenient travel experience for thousands and contribute to the town’s identity,” he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of public cooperation in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep.
The event also mentioned a planned visit by Prime Minister Modi to North Gujarat on March 31, where he will virtually inaugurate a 3D mapping show at the UNESCO-listed 'Rani Ni Vav'.
Among the attendees were MLAs Lavingji Thakor, Alpesh Thakor, Kirit Patel, and Balvantsinh Rajput, along with other officials and local community members.
