Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, April 16 (NationPress) The Congress party is struggling to identify candidates for the upcoming elections, said Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, during a public gathering in Dahod district on Thursday.
At the ‘Vikas Sankalp Sabha’ held in Chhapri, Sanghavi remarked, “The current state of the Congress is such that they cannot even find candidates to stand in elections.”
He directed his criticism towards the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, stating: “Those who champion tribal rights must chant ‘Jai Adivasi’ upon arriving in Gujarat.”
A significant turnout of district leaders and local residents welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister at the meeting.
Sanghavi emphasized the vital role played by tribal communities in shaping both the nation’s and Gujarat’s history. “The impact of tribal contributions to the development of our country and state is unmatched,” he noted.
Speaking about the Indian Rebellion of 1857, he highlighted: “During this pivotal freedom struggle, tribals showcased their valor by fighting with bows and arrows against the British. The nation continues to honor the sacrifice of Vegda Bhil in defending the Somnath Temple.”
According to Sanghavi, the dreams of freedom fighters have been fulfilled under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“The aspiration was for tribals to step out of their huts, receiving electricity and gas cylinders in their homes. This has been accomplished by the BJP government,” he declared.
Comparing the current administration to previous ones, he stated: “Under the previous Congress government, there was merely ‘cut money’, while today the BJP government directly transfers Rs 6,000 to farmers’ accounts as their rightful entitlement.”
Commenting on the progress in Dahod, Sanghavi remarked: “Today, the tribal community enjoys a robust status in Gujarat, with over 11 lakh Ayushman card holders in Dahod district.”
He also referred to improvements in infrastructure and safety: “There was a time when residents had to return home before nightfall in Dahod, but now there is round-the-clock electricity and a secure environment.”
Previously, Sanghavi convened with community leaders in Jalat village to plan forthcoming initiatives.
