Gujarat honours 12 top ITIs, allocates ₹2,000 crore for skill development

The Gujarat Government on 7 May 2025 honoured 12 top-performing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for their performance across academic years 2022-23 to 2025-26, underlining the state's push to align youth skills with the evolving demands of modern industries. The awards ceremony was held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Labour, Skill Development and Employment Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya, with State Minister Kantilal Amrutiya in attendance.

Top Performers and Prize Money

For 2025-26, Bilimora ITI secured the first position, Palanpur ITI came second, and Jamnagar ITI placed third. The first-ranked institution received ₹11 lakh, the second ₹9 lakh, and the third ₹5 lakh, along with trophies. Officials stated that the prize funds are to be utilised exclusively for academic enhancement and infrastructure development of the respective institutes.

Performance rankings for previous years were also announced at the ceremony. For 2022-23, Maninagar ITI stood first, followed by Surat ITI and Amreli ITI. For 2023-24, Talaja ITI secured first position, Gota–Ranip ITI second, and Gorwa Women's ITI third. For 2024-25, Saraspur ITI was ranked first, Vyara ITI second, and Tarsali ITI third. Institutions were evaluated on performance parameters set by an expert committee covering multiple academic years.

Minister Bavaliya emphasised that ITIs are central to preparing youth for industrial needs.
