Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 15 (NationPress) As the Gujarat Titans (GT) gear up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 trophy with a training camp in Nathdwara, they are set to unveil the third edition of their flagship grassroots initiative, Junior Titans, beginning this Saturday.
Colonel Arvinder Singh, the franchise’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), mentioned that this initiative has already engaged over 10,000 children across 11 cities, aiming to encourage young kids to participate in outdoor sporting activities.
Singh emphasized that this program should not be misconstrued as a talent search for the next cricket stars like Shubman Gill, Smriti Mandhana, or Harmanpreet Kaur. “Our focus is purely on motivating children—both boys and girls—to engage in physical activities, not just cricket. We want them to play any sport they enjoy, enhancing their overall activity levels,” he explained.
“We are creating opportunities for them in their local schools, where children from different institutions can come together,” Singh added. “We encourage schools to send equal numbers of boys and girls to our events, ensuring a balanced participation.”
This year, the initiative will take place in five cities: Surendranagar (January 17), Morbi (January 24), Amreli (January 31), Anand (February 7), and will conclude in Ahmedabad on February 14.
“Our goal is straightforward: to cover diverse regions of Gujarat every year. If you map our journey from the 2023 season to now, you’ll see our commitment to reaching every corner of the state,” Singh stated.
Moreover, the initiative aims to engage children in sports at a young age, especially in an era dominated by gadgets. “Sports take place outdoors, and it’s essential for children to participate. We explain the importance of physical activity, teamwork, and camaraderie,” Singh concluded. “While we organize games like football, basketball, and cricket, we also promote various forms of physical activities to help children understand the significance of staying active beyond their studies and gadgets.”
