Hyderabad/Gandhinagar, Feb 3 (NationPress) Gujarat has been recognized as the 'Best State for Promotion of Aviation Ecosystem' at the Wings India 2026, a biennial civil aviation conference and exhibition held at Begumpet Airport from January 28 to 31.
The accolade was presented by Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu during the event.
Gujarat Civil Aviation Commissioner K. L. Bachani confirmed the news, stating that this recognition is a testament to the state’s efforts in enhancing aviation infrastructure and providing policy support.
Bachani noted that the award highlights Gujarat’s advancements in areas like maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities, development of aviation infrastructure, and the growth of the aircraft leasing sector.
Joint winners in the same category included Telangana and Uttarakhand.
“This award, conferred by the Union Civil Aviation Minister, acknowledges Gujarat’s relentless work towards establishing a robust aviation ecosystem,” said Bachani.
The achievement is in line with the state government’s strategy to position the aviation sector as a driver of economic growth and enhance air connectivity across different regions.
He further elaborated that this recognition is linked to the state's commitment to expanding infrastructure and making air travel more accessible.
According to him, Gujarat's strategy has been focused on long-term planning, capacity building, and enhancing facilities that support both commercial aviation and its ancillary services.
Gujarat has received similar accolades in previous editions of this event, having been named the 'Best State with a Dedicated Outlook for the Sector' at Wings India 2022 and the 'Best State with a Dedicated Lookout for the Aviation Sector' at Wings India 2024.
The Wings India 2026 event was organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in partnership with the Airports Authority of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
This gathering brought together policymakers, representatives from state governments, aircraft manufacturers, airline operators, and other stakeholders from both India and overseas.
The four-day event featured discussions, exhibitions, static aircraft displays, and business meetings centered on civil aviation, regional connectivity, infrastructure development, and emerging technologies.
