Hyderabad, Jan 28 (NationPress) India is poised to advance in the realm of civil aviation by establishing a robust manufacturing ecosystem, stated Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu on Wednesday.

This ecosystem is designed not only to meet the anticipated domestic demands over the next 10-20 years but also to position India as a key player for global exports.

The Minister spoke to reporters following the inauguration of Wings India 2026, the civil aviation summit, held at Begumpet Airport.

This year’s biennial event aims to highlight India’s capabilities in the civil aviation sector, particularly in manufacturing.

Addressing the surge in civil aviation, he noted that in the last decade, the country has doubled its airports, seen significant passenger growth, and expanded its aircraft fleet, attributing this success to the forward-thinking leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the transformative reforms initiated in the civil aviation sector, especially the UDAN scheme.

The Civil Aviation Minister revealed that a significant MoU was signed on Tuesday between Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer and Adani Aerospace.

“They aspire to develop a manufacturing ecosystem in India. This is the new India, where the country has emerged as a globally trusted aviation partner, particularly as aviation engineering demands precise skills and accuracy. This represents a remarkable leap forward for us in manufacturing,” he remarked.

The timeline for the Embraer-Adani Aerospace partnership will be established next month when the Brazilian President visits India to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Minister Naidu anticipates substantial progress in the manufacturing sector over the next two years.

Upon inaugurating the static aircraft display, Naidu inspected the Boeing 787-9, specifically configured for Air India. “This marks the first delivery,” he noted.

He emphasized that one of the primary challenges facing the aviation industry is the availability of aircraft. “We have numerous orders placed with Boeing and Airbus. Deliveries are commencing this year. We are optimistic that the delivery of these aircraft, which are tailored for Indian passengers, will instill greater confidence in the aviation sector,” he stated.

The Minister mentioned that Airbus and Boeing are already sourcing components worth up to two billion dollars from India. Several manufacturing hubs are emerging across the country, with significant ones located in Telangana and Karnataka. Andhra Pradesh and other states, including Gujarat, are also strengthening their positions in this ecosystem.

During Wings India, the focus will be on forging global partnerships with various organizations and countries.

The Minister affirmed that the civil aviation ministry is dedicated to supporting all those seeking to collaborate with India in aviation manufacturing.

Delegates from 20 countries and 3,000 business participants from both India and abroad are participating in the event.

The event features a static aircraft display and showcases not only aircraft components but also avionics and technology.

Naidu conveyed to all OEMs and international participants that India represents the most promising opportunity globally. “The IMF has projected that India will grow at 7 percent annually for the next 10-15 years. This sends a strong message to anyone considering investment or seeking robust relationships in manufacturing or any other sector that India is the ideal choice,” he emphasized.

“In light of the geopolitical conflicts and emerging uncertainties worldwide, India stands out as one of the most favorable nations today. This is exemplified by the complex FTA recently negotiated with the EU, marking a significant achievement for our country,” he added.

Point of View

I believe this initiative marks a pivotal moment for India's aviation industry. With the commitment to foster a manufacturing ecosystem, we are not only ensuring self-reliance but also enhancing our global competitiveness. This aligns with our national interests and strengthens our position on the world stage.
