Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu emphasized that our airports serve as India's identity card to the global community, showcasing a blend of innovative global standards and architectural designs that reflect our rich local heritage, embodying the principle of 'Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi'.
While addressing the 31st Annual Day of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), he stated that AAI is the cornerstone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's UDAN initiative, which aims to make air travel more accessible across the country's diverse landscapes.
“AAI is transforming the flying experience in India with user-focused programs such as UDAN Yatri Cafe, Flybrary, complimentary Wi-Fi, and dedicated Kids Zones. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the AAI staff and their families for embodying the vision of evolving into a world-class airport developer and operator,” the minister remarked.
Naidu also led a meeting of the Civil Aviation Consultative Committee to discuss significant issues related to the production and upkeep of aircraft and their components within India.
“The government's vision, under the reform-oriented leadership of PM Modi, is to cultivate an Atmanirbhar aviation ecosystem by enhancing domestic capabilities and integrating India into the global aviation supply chain. I appreciate the insights shared by the participating MPs and their recognition of the advancements being made in civil aircraft manufacturing in our country,” Naidu added.
Earlier, the government announced that domestic airfares are expected to remain stable, having mitigated the effects of a significant rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices by permitting only a modest increase for domestic airlines.
Naidu asserted that this measured approach would safeguard passengers and bolster the aviation sector. “This strategy will shield travelers from drastic fare hikes, alleviate the pressures on domestic airlines, and foster the ongoing stability of the aviation industry during this pivotal period,” he noted.
He further indicated that this decision would also positively impact the wider economy by ensuring efficient cargo movement and preserving essential air connectivity for trade and logistics.
