Gurugram, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Shyamal Misra, led a meeting with various departments to review a range of projects aimed at addressing on-ground challenges, enhancing civic services, and expediting the ongoing infrastructure development initiatives in the city.
During the meeting, the issue of incomplete connections of surface drains under NHAI with GMDA's master stormwater drains was highlighted.
GMDA officials pointed out that the stormwater drains constructed by NHAI around Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower, Jharsa Chowk, Manesar Bus Stand, and Hero Honda Chowk are not yet linked to GMDA’s master drain, leading to waterlogging during the rainy season.
Mishra instructed that a joint inspection be conducted immediately by the relevant officers from both departments to ensure that the drains are interconnected to facilitate effective stormwater discharge and prevent waterlogging on the city roads.
Moreover, the issue of illegal waste disposal into the drains along the National Highway was also addressed by NHAI officials.
"Instructions were given to MCG officials to enhance the manpower and resources assigned to combat the issue of illegal waste dumping and to ensure daily garbage removal to keep the drains clear of blockages," Mishra stated.
GMDA officials reported that to bolster temporary waterlogging mitigation efforts in Narsinghpur, the Authority will construct a 1300-meter pipeline to direct stormwater from Narsinghpur Village into the Badshapur drain, aiming to alleviate waterlogging on this crucial stretch during heavy rainfall.
NHAI officials were also instructed to guarantee the functionality of all pumping equipment deployed on this section of NH-48 during the monsoon.
One of the significant projects being undertaken by NHAI and GMDA is the upgrade of the 3.2 km corridor between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk to enhance road infrastructure for public benefit.
Officials from HSVP were directed to expedite the transfer of a one-acre plot identified by HVPNL for relocating the substation that lies within this corridor's alignment.
Additionally, directives were issued by the CEO of GMDA to hasten the work by relevant departments on the shifting of utilities to provide a clear ROW for NHAI and the upcoming Gurugram metro project.
The construction of service roads by GMDA along the Dwarka Expressway is progressing well, with approximately 8 km of service roads already developed.
The CEO of GMDA emphasized that the work must be completed within the set timeframe to enhance accessibility to the Dwarka Expressway for residents in the area.
Furthermore, the GMDA chief called for regular coordination meetings among the respective officers of various local authorities to resolve any on-ground challenges and expedite the progress of the projects aimed at improving Gurugram City.
