Haryana CM Celebrates Hisar's Soil as a Symbol of Labor and Livestock Success

Chandigarh, March 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, officially launched the Kharif Krishi Mela -- 2026 at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU) located in Hisar. He praised the endeavor to unite farmers, researchers, and innovations onto a shared platform.
The Chief Minister remarked that the soil of Hisar represents perseverance, livestock success, and the sacrifices made by courageous soldiers. He noted that Rakhigarhi symbolizes the pride of our ancient civilization, while Agroha encapsulates the legacy of Maharaja Agrasen’s principles of social equality and economic growth.
Upon his arrival at the fair, the Chief Minister honored the memory of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev by laying floral tributes on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas.
Additionally, he unveiled various publications produced by the university’s Directorate of Extension Education, Cotton Section, Oilseeds Department, and other departments aimed at providing valuable information to farmers.
Vice Chancellor B.R. Kamboj presented a memento in the form of a plough to symbolize flourishing agriculture to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the fair organized by CCS HAU stands as a testament to the dedication of farmers and the vision of scientists. The university has played a crucial role in enhancing improved seed varieties, water conservation, soil health, and climate-smart agricultural practices.
He also announced the inauguration of a Nutri-Cereals Research Centre in Gokulpura village, Bhiwani district, which spans 64 acres and has a budget of Rs 11.67 crore.
This center will focus on creating pest- and disease-resistant millet varieties, prolonging the shelf life of millet flour, establishing market connections for producers, and fostering value addition.
“It will also innovate modern processing techniques for millet-based products,” he added.
During the fair, the Chief Minister recognized 42 exemplary farmers, including 21 women, who he described as an inspiration for the state's advancement.
According to him, Haryana has emerged as the second-largest contributor to the nation's food grain supply, a feat achieved through the hard work of farmers, scientific inquiry, and supportive government policies.
