Chandigarh, Jan 18 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated on Sunday that the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) serves as a robust framework for enhancing the living conditions of diligent labourers. This initiative represents Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to every worker across the nation.
The mission guarantees the right to work with dignity, timely wages, social respect, and a secure livelihood. The Chief Minister made these remarks during the state-level conference of VB-G RAM G held in Panchkula.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister's ambition to transform India into a developed nation by 2047 is unachievable without the advancement of villages and labourers.
According to him, the journey toward a developed India is rooted in its villages.
"The VB-G RAM G initiative is not just an employment program; it is a mission to enhance the lives of industrious individuals, ensuring their dignity and safeguarding their self-respect," the Chief Minister asserted.
He elaborated that recognizing the limitations of MNREGA, PM Modi has introduced the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, commonly referred to as the Viksit Bharat - G RAM G Act.
This initiative is not merely a rebranding of MNREGA but represents a comprehensive overhaul of the rural employment framework.
The new legislation increases the statutory employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days.
Additionally, it allows states to pause work for up to 60 days during sowing and harvesting seasons.
This provision ensures that workers receive employment for these 60 days, in addition to the 125 days guaranteed under the Viksit Bharat - G RAM G scheme.
Consequently, the annual income for an average rural unskilled worker nationwide is projected to rise by over Rs 7,000.
In Haryana, each worker will benefit from an extra Rs 10,000.
With Haryana boasting the highest minimum wage nationally at Rs 400 per day, the annual income of every worker could reach a minimum of Rs 50,000.
The Chief Minister noted that under the employment initiative, wages will now be disbursed on a weekly basis instead of the previous 15-day cycle, ensuring timely remuneration for workers.
These measures will help eliminate instances of fake workers, fraudulent work, and counterfeit payments.
He also mentioned that the nature and scope of work have been broadened under the new law, incorporating numerous additional work categories.
This expansion will generate more job opportunities for labourers and accelerate developmental activities in villages.
Previously, MNREGA offered limited employment options, whereas the new scheme takes a more holistic and development-focused approach.
