Chandigarh, July 13 (NationPress) In preparation for the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, the Haryana government announced the suspension of mobile internet services, bulk SMS (except for banking and mobile recharge), and all dongle services on mobile networks, with the exception of voice calls, within the Nuh district until 9 p.m. on July 14. This action is taken due to concerns over potential unrest and the misuse of digital platforms to disseminate misinformation.
A holiday has been declared for both government and private educational institutions in Nuh district, which has experienced unrest in the past. The Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra will commence from Nalhar Mahadev Mandir and will proceed to Jhir Mandir in Ferozepur Jhirka.
According to an official spokesperson, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra issued this order to prevent potential disruptions to public utilities, protect public assets, and maintain law and order in the district. The suspension is intended to curtail the spread of misinformation and rumors via social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and SMS.
The spokesperson emphasized that the order was designed with public convenience in mind, allowing for individual SMS, banking SMS, mobile recharges, voice calls, and internet services from broadband and leased lines, thus ensuring that commercial and financial interests, as well as basic domestic needs, remain unaffected.
All telecom service providers in Haryana have been instructed to comply with this directive. Violators of the order will face legal consequences, as stated by the spokesperson.
The Home Department described this order as a precautionary measure aimed at preserving public peace and preventing any possible disturbances to law and order, balancing security requirements with the need for public convenience by allowing essential services.
