Los Angeles, Dec 8 (NationPress) Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren expressed her thoughts on the perception of beauty, stating that she has always favored the term “swagger” over “beauty.”
During a discussion at an event, she emphasized her aversion to the word “beauty,” hoping to be remembered for something more profound regarding her personal aesthetic, as reported by people.com.
“I don't like the word beauty. I've always preferred the term swagger. So my legacy would be: 'She had good swagger,’ “ Mirren stated.
Previously, the actress shared her biggest red carpet style tip, highlighting the importance of footwear.
"I've learned over the years, your shoes must be bearable," Mirren advised at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
"They don’t need to be comfortable, and sometimes comfort can be a bit dull, but they must be bearable. If you're in excruciating pain, it will show on your face, your posture, and everything. So prioritize the shoes, ensuring you feel secure and they're tolerable."
Mirren mentioned she has reached a stage in her career where comfort in fashion is essential, something she didn’t always prioritize.
"I've reached a point where I desire my red carpet outfit to be comfortable as well," she commented at Cannes.
"Beauty knows no pain. I've endured it for the sake of vanity more than once. But again, comfort reflects on your face."
She perceives the red carpet as a performance.
“(The red carpet is) a performance. It’s akin to being on stage, and I approach it that way. It’s a delightful, whimsical performance. It won't last forever. It holds significant meaning for a brief moment, then it’s over, and we move on,” the Queen actress explained.
In a recent interview, Mirren looked back on aging, expressing her thoughts on turning 80 as “beautiful.”
"I find everything about it fabulous," she shared.
"I'm alive, working, enjoying wine, wearing makeup, listening to music, watching beautiful sunsets, going to the theater, catching movies, binge-watching Netflix, and living life. It’s a beautiful thing."
