Shimla, July 24 (NationPress) Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla announced on Thursday that the anti-drug initiative he launched in the state will now be scaled to a national level.
During a media briefing, the Governor revealed that a high-ranking committee, chaired by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, recently visited the Raj Bhavan to examine the 'Nasha Mukt Himachal' model.
Following their evaluation of its effectiveness, the ministry has resolved to implement this model across the nation.
In a preliminary move, the ministry hosted a national youth spiritual retreat titled 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' on July 20 in Kashi, Uttar Pradesh, where Governor Shukla was present for the closing session.
Expressing alarm about the escalating drug crisis, the Governor stressed the urgency for the state government to establish a modern de-addiction and rehabilitation facility.
He mentioned that his campaign draws inspiration from the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is fundamentally rooted in community involvement.
The Governor detailed how the 'Nasha Mukt Himachal' initiative has been rolled out in all districts, engaging students, mahila mandals (women’s groups), and Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Awareness rallies have been organized statewide to amplify this crucial message.
In several panchayats, the community has collectively resolved to deny benefits and services to those involved in substance misuse.
To further solidify the campaign's impact, the Governor has mandated that students enrolling in universities and colleges must submit an affidavit affirming their commitment to abstain from drug use.
Additionally, local fairs and festivals are now themed around drug-free messages to enhance societal awareness.
Sports competitions under the 'Nasha Mukt Himachal' theme have been held in partnership with the NCC, NSS, and local youth organizations. Efforts are underway to engage more groups and individuals to broaden the campaign's outreach.
Governor Shukla stated he has reached out to all MLAs of Himachal Pradesh, urging them to take proactive measures in their constituencies to endorse and advance the campaign.
“This is not merely a campaign; it is a mission to safeguard our future generations and uphold the social integrity of our communities,” the Governor concluded.
