Shimla, Dec 7 (NationPress) The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, officially launched a state-level workshop titled “War on Drugs – Chitte Par Chot” on Sunday. This initiative, organized by the non-profit organization Sanjeevani, underscores the necessity for coordinated and determined actions to tackle the escalating issue of drug abuse.
While addressing attendees, the Governor highlighted that the battle against drugs necessitates not only stringent measures from law enforcement but also a compassionate approach towards those affected by addiction.
He pointed out the importance of collaboration between NGOs and religious organizations to dismantle the drug networks orchestrated by foreign entities.
Governor Shukla commended the state government’s initiatives in addressing the drug crisis and praised the unified stance of both the ruling and opposition parties during Assembly discussions on this critical issue.
“Without a concerted political commitment, safeguarding the Dev Bhoomi from this challenge will be impossible,” he asserted.
Expressing his support for the initiative, the Governor stated that “Chitte Par Chot” represents more than just a campaign; it symbolizes a pledge to action.
He noted with satisfaction that Sanjeevani is not only disseminating anti-drug messages but is also advocating for policy reforms, enhancing capabilities, conducting research, raising awareness, and implementing community-based programs.
The organization is creating opportunities for various NGOs to partner with the state government, thereby fortifying policies related to drug prevention, counseling, rehabilitation, training, and outreach efforts.
“Systematic initiatives, strategic planning, and community involvement are vital for the success of ‘Chitte Par Chot’,” remarked Governor Shukla.
He emphasized that genuine transformation can only occur when society, media, religious groups, sports organizations, volunteer networks, and youth clubs unite in their advocacy.
According to the Governor, protecting Himachal from the scourge of drugs requires every individual to be vigilant and empathetic.
“The youth succumbing to addiction signifies not just the failure of an individual but also that of society as a whole,” he cautioned.
He observed that despite Himachal Pradesh’s reputation for peace, culture, and natural beauty, it is currently confronted with the significant threat posed by synthetic drugs like ‘chitta’.
