Himanta Biswa Sarma names 4 ministers, picks Ranjit Das for Speaker
Assam Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced the names of four legislators who will take oath as Ministers alongside him on Tuesday, while senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ranjit Das has been chosen as the NDA's candidate for the Speaker's post in the Assam Legislative Assembly. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at Khanapara in Guwahati in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Four Ministers Named
In a post on X, Sarma confirmed that former Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora, United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Charan Boro, and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog will be sworn in as Ministers in the new Council of Ministers. The announcement signals a coalition-inclusive cabinet, drawing representation from NDA alliance partners AGP and UPPL alongside BJP.
