Hyderabad, Sep 9 (NationPress) A female Town Planning officer in Hyderabad was apprehended on Tuesday while allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh for performing an official task.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) intercepted Maniharika, a Town Planning officer at the Narsingi municipal office, as she was receiving the bribe.
She had asked for Rs 10 lakh from a complainant named Vinod to expedite his application under the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS), but was caught accepting Rs 4 lakh.
Vinod reported the matter to the ACB, which set up a trap and caught the officer in the act.
A team of ACB officials, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sridhar, was conducting searches at the municipal office, scrutinizing files previously cleared by Maniharika.
In recent months, several female officials have been apprehended accepting bribes by the ACB.
On September 4, M. Charitha Reddy, District Fisheries Officer at the District Collectorate in Nalgonda, was caught demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 to approve new members in the Fisheries Co-Operative Society.
Chintakindi Lalitha, Tahsildar, and Kota Ravi, Mandal Surveyor from Amangal Mandal, were caught soliciting Rs 1 lakh and accepting Rs 50,000 to finalize land registration and correct typographical errors in land records related to the complainant's grandmother's land.
On August 12, K. Sujatha, Junior Assistant at the District Collector's office in Vikarabad, was apprehended for demanding Rs 15,000 to process the complainant's documents and send the Collector's order to the Nawabpet Tahsildar office.
In June, Paka Sukanya, Assistant Labour Officer, along with her private assistant, Mokinepalli Rajeshwari, were caught accepting Rs 30,000 to process a natural death claim and funeral charges file for the complainant's husband.
