New Delhi, July 14 (NationPress) The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has unveiled a remarkable new MBA batch this year, reflecting a diverse mix of backgrounds with students coming from 21 states and three union territories.
Notably, 14.5 percent of this cohort comprises graduates from prestigious institutions, including IITs, NITs, IISERs, and IIITs, highlighting a clear trend towards academic excellence.
Out of this, 26 students (7.57 percent) are from elite institutes like IIT Guwahati, NIT Rourkela, NIT Tiruchirapalli, and VNIT Nagpur, indicating a rise in the quality of students.
According to IIM Raipur, the MBA Batch of 2025-27 has been launched with a comprehensive orientation program, welcoming 353 students to an enriching journey centered on diversity, inclusion, and leadership. This program underscores the institute's expanding national footprint and its enhancing academic reputation.
Maintaining a well-rounded academic background, 55.5 percent of the cohort comes from engineering disciplines while 44.5 percent represent a variety of non-engineering fields, including commerce, sciences, law, humanities, management, dentistry, and medicine.
This interdisciplinary approach aims to promote holistic decision-making and foster enriched peer learning.
Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, highlighted the significance of diversity, stating, “Classroom diversity enhances decision-making depth. At IIM Raipur, we don’t simply teach management; we cultivate an environment where analytical thinking converges with human insight. The diverse nature of our cohort boosts engagement, strengthens collaborative problem-solving, and equips students for success in today’s interconnected world. Our mission is to develop not only skilled professionals but also ethical and visionary leaders.
Students entering IIM Raipur possess an average of 23 months of professional experience across various sectors such as IT, engineering, BFSI, retail, and healthcare. This combination of academic rigor and practical experience fosters a dynamic and collaborative learning environment, he added.
The week-long program featured numerous impactful sessions focused on student empowerment and institutional immersion.
Among these was a POSH sensitization workshop facilitated by Prof. Ashapurna Baruah, along with contributions from experts Mala Thapar and Dr. C.K. Swain.
A Career and Placement orientation was also provided, alongside overviews of international relations and campus infrastructure.
IIM also organized a scholarship awareness session and a mental health and stress management workshop. These initiatives reflect IIM’s commitment to offering a holistic student experience—nurturing academic and professional growth while emphasizing ethical awareness, psychological well-being, and social responsibility.
