New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) Former wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel asserts that India should consider including Kuldeep Yadav in their bowling lineup for the upcoming fifth Test against England, set to commence at The Oval on Thursday.
Throughout this extensive tour of England, Kuldeep has yet to feature in the playing eleven as India has adhered to their strategy of utilizing bowling all-rounders. Currently, India trails 2-1 in the five-match series and must secure a victory at The Oval to level the series at 2-2.
“India ought to approach selection with the same confidence they have shown in their batting. If Bumrah is unavailable, India will require another aggressive bowler. In the existing bowling mix, Kuldeep Yadav provides that attacking quality as a wicket-taker,” stated Patel.
“From that standpoint, I believe India must find a way to include him. Whether that occurs is uncertain, but I firmly believe that Kuldeep Yadav should definitely be part of the team,” Patel expressed during his remarks on JioHotstar.
With reports from The Oval suggesting that Jasprit Bumrah may not participate in the fifth Test due to workload management, the responsibility significantly falls on Mohammed Siraj to assume the role of the bowling leader. Siraj stands out as the only Indian fast bowler who has played in all four Tests so far, having bowled 139 overs.
“We often take Mohammed Siraj for granted. His effort, intensity, and the smile he maintains regardless of the match situation are truly commendable. Regarding Bumrah, we are all aware of the careful management of his workload,” added Patel.
“It was announced during the press conference that he would only participate in three Tests, thus there are numerous factors to consider, including recovery, fitness, and workload. Nonetheless, I personally hope to see him in the final match. I trust that the support staff accompanying the team can assist him in recovering on time,” Patel concluded.
