He cited the partnership between Africa50 and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, particularly the Kenya transmission project, as a prime example of how innovative financing, technical expertise, and public-private partnerships can create resilient infrastructure.
By referring to initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, he reaffirmed India’s dedication to strengthening ties with Africa. The minister stressed that the energy collaboration between India and Africa is not merely transactional but rather transformational, built on co-creation and reaffirmed India’s role as a trustworthy partner in this shared journey.
The meeting further emphasized that India and Africa will closely collaborate on expanding renewable energy, developing interconnected grid systems, advancing energy storage and flexibility solutions, and building capacity through institutional enhancement.
Shripad Yasso Naik, Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, underscored the importance of moving the India-Africa partnership from intention to action. He reiterated the shared commitment to providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for all, which serves as the foundation for inclusive growth. Naik highlighted that this collaboration is driven by a vision that is inclusive, equitable, and forward-looking, aiming to create a long-lasting impact and empower communities in both India and Africa.
Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, reaffirmed the state's commitment to sustainable governance, emphasizing effective irrigation water management as vital for progress.
From a global investment perspective, Alain Ebobisse, CEO of Africa50, stated that their goal is not to seek aid but rather to attract investments that yield both impact and returns. He pointed out that Africa is increasingly prioritizing the development of bankable projects, expanding transmission, and mobilizing private capital, with support from integrated planning and new investment frameworks.
