India will host the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting on Friday, 22 August 2025, in New Delhi, bringing together member nations to advance cooperation in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), digital transformation, cybersecurity, and resilient digital infrastructure. The meeting is a key milestone in India's ongoing BRICS Chairship.

Agenda and Key Focus Areas

The ministerial meeting will be chaired by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and is organised under India's BRICS Chairship theme: 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'. The ICT Track theme is 'Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future'.

Delegates will deliberate on emerging technologies, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), future networks, cybersecurity, capacity building, and inclusive digital connectivity. The forum will also focus on sharing best practices to support digital transformation across BRICS nations and the broader Global South.

India's Role Under BRICS Chairship

During its Chairship, India has placed strong emphasis on ICT cooperation through focused initiatives on resilient digital infrastructure, future networks, and innovation. The Department of Telecommunications has led discussions under the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICTs, including deliberations on proposed BRICS Capacity Building Centres and enhanced collaboration in emerging technologies.

Notably, this meeting builds upon outcomes from the 11th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting held under Brazil's BRICS Chairship in 2025, which reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation in ICTs, digital public infrastructure, and global digital governance.

Digital BRICS Forum Expo

Alongside the ministerial meeting, Minister Scindia will visit the 'Digital BRICS Forum Expo', which will showcase digital technologies, innovations, and solutions relevant to the BRICS ecosystem. The Expo is designed to highlight India's technological capabilities and facilitate knowledge exchange among participating countries and stakeholders.
