New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, represented the Indian government at a reception held by the Luxembourg Embassy in New Delhi to celebrate the accession of Grand Duke Guillaume to the throne.
During the event, he expressed his greetings to both the government and the citizens of Luxembourg, emphasizing the strong and dynamic partnership between the two nations.
Sharing moments from the gathering on X, Kirti Vardhan Singh remarked, "On behalf of the Government and the people of India, I extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Highness, the government, and the citizens of Luxembourg."
He added, "I had the honor of representing the Government of India as the Chief Guest at the reception celebrating the accession of HRH Grand Duke Guillaume to the throne hosted by the Luxembourg Embassy in New Delhi."
Grand Duke Guillaume is the firstborn son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. He officially assumed the role of Hereditary Grand Duke on October 7, 2000, following his father's ascent to the throne. He took the oath of office on October 3, after his father's abdication, thus becoming the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, as stated in the official announcement.
Earlier this year, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met with Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel during the Raisina Dialogue. The leaders discussed topics including United Nations reform, the situation in Ukraine, and the partnership between India and the European Union (EU).
"It was a pleasure to engage with DPM & FM Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg. We discussed UN reform, Ukraine, and the India - EU partnership," EAM Jaishankar posted on X.
India and Luxembourg uphold warm and amicable relations, marked by a significant level of mutual understanding and cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral realms, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Diplomatic relations were established in 1948, and Luxembourg inaugurated its Embassy in New Delhi in 2002, also appointing Honorary Consuls in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
