During his address, EAM Jaishankar emphasized the expanding India-Luxembourg partnership across various sectors, such as politics, business, and technology.
While detailing his conversations with Luxembourg’s leadership, he stated, “I must share with you that in every one of these meetings—starting with the Grand Duke, the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Minister—I received very strong and positive feedback about the Indian community.”
“Hearing such commendations from your counterparts and the authorities of the host nation truly leaves a positive impression. It reflects that this community is well-integrated and considered highly contributive,” he remarked.
EAM highlighted the importance of the India-Luxembourg partnership for several reasons.
He pointed out that Luxembourg is situated at the core of the European Union and, being one of its founding members, it holds substantial sway over the Union and its decision-making.
He mentioned that as India aims to enhance its engagement with the EU, Luxembourg’s role in Brussels becomes crucial for collective decision-making.
“I received the utmost assurance that we are currently in advanced discussions regarding a free trade agreement. In various sectors like technology, defense, connectivity, and mobility, significant developments are underway with the European Union. The influence and goodwill of Luxembourg in fostering this relationship will undoubtedly be beneficial,” he elaborated.
Earlier on Tuesday, EAM Jaishankar paid a visit to Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, extending warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu.
Following the meeting with the Grand Duke, EAM shared on X, “I value his positive sentiments towards India and our efforts to deepen our bilateral partnership.”
