Luxembourg City, Jan 6 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar expressed on Tuesday that there is significant potential for India and Luxembourg to engage in more fruitful collaborations in the realms of fintech, space, the digital landscape, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

During his opening remarks at a meeting with Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, EAM Jaishankar conveyed his anticipation for the discussions and his belief that both nations stand to gain from their dialogues.

"I observe a vibrant community here. I will be interacting with them later this evening. Beyond our solid trade relations, I believe there are numerous pressing topics of our time, such as fintech, space, the entire digital realm, and AI. There is ample opportunity for us to collaborate more effectively than ever before. I eagerly look forward to our discussions today. The current state of the world is particularly intriguing, and I am confident that our open dialogue will prove beneficial," stated EAM Jaishankar.

Expressing gratitude to Bettel for his warm hospitality in Luxembourg, Jaishankar emphasized his counterpart's dedication to strengthening bilateral relations and the opportunity to rejuvenate ties.

Recalling previous engagements with Xavier Bettel, he remarked, "We met just a few weeks ago in the UAE, where our discussions were fruitful. We also had the chance to host you in Delhi at the Raisina Dialogue about a year ago. Your proactive approach to nurturing our relationship has been commendable, especially during the virtual summit with Prime Minister Modi in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, where significant decisions regarding our contemporary relations were made. I want to extend my gratitude for your personal commitment to our partnership and for the chance to renew our discussions."

He acknowledged that India views Luxembourg as a key ally and thanked Bettel for advocating the deepening of relations between India and the European Union.

"As you rightly pointed out, we have now celebrated 78 years of our relationship, and we recognize Luxembourg as a vital partner, both individually and in the context of the European Union. At this crucial juncture in our ties with the EU, your influence in shaping that relationship and the support you provide are invaluable. I appreciate your efforts in advocating for stronger connections between India and the EU," Jaishankar noted.

Earlier in the day, EAM Jaishankar met with Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, relaying warm regards from Prime Minister Modi.

"During my meeting with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, we had a productive exchange focused on enhancing our countries’ bilateral relations and discussing significant global developments," Frieden shared on X.

EAM Jaishankar mentioned that their discussions also revolved around expanding cooperation in financial services, investments, technology, and innovation between the two nations.

"It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Luc Frieden of Luxembourg this morning. I conveyed warm greetings from PM Modi and discussed our growing cooperation in financial services, investments, technology, and innovation. I appreciate his support for stronger India-EU connections," Jaishankar posted on X.
