New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) The Indian Navy is set to commemorate the 11th anniversary of International Yoga Day on Saturday, June 21, aboard warships both at sea and in harbour, including those stationed in foreign waters and ports, as well as at naval bases throughout the nation.
According to a Navy spokesperson, "The 11th International Yoga Day (IYD) will be celebrated with the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' on the morning of June 21, onboard warships at sea and in harbours, including those in foreign waters and ports, and at naval stations nationwide."
Emphasizing the significance of Yoga in enhancing both physical and mental health, the Navy will conduct daily Yoga sessions starting June 21 leading up to IYD.
In celebration of IYD, various locations will host Common Yoga Protocol sessions, including aboard ships at sea and in harbour, on beaches, parade grounds, in aircraft hangars, parks, and more.
Naval personnel, along with their families, defence civilians, and international trainees, are encouraged to actively participate in the IYD events.
Importantly, the naval community is engaging in ‘Yoga Maha Kumbh’ activities, making use of the Namaste Yoga app and participating in virtual yoga sessions offered by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
To mark the International Day of Yoga, a series of Yoga-related activities are scheduled, including quizzes, poster-making contests, drawing competitions, and lectures from Yoga experts aimed at promoting Yoga as a transformative lifestyle.
Likewise, on June 19, the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Teg arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, as part of its operational deployment in the South West Indian Ocean Region. A joint Yoga session is planned on June 21 aboard INS Teg, bringing together personnel from the Indian Navy, the Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG), and members of the Indian diaspora in a spirit of unity and holistic well-being.
