Indian Startups Garner Over Rs 13,800 Crore in February, AI Funding Surges

New Delhi, March 4 (NationPress) Indian startups successfully secured a remarkable total of nearly Rs 13,800 crore ($1.65 billion) in February this year, marking a 19.5 percent increase from approximately Rs 11,460 crore ($1.38 billion) in January, according to a recent report.
The median valuation of these startups in February 2025 reached Rs 61,216 crore ($83.2 billion).
During the financial year 2024-25, Indian startups cumulatively raised Rs 21,062 crore ($25.4 billion) across 2,200 funding rounds.
Bengaluru, recognized as India's startup epicenter, attracted the most funding in February 2025, securing $353 million, as per data from Traxcn.
The median round size in Bengaluru was $2 million. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs in Mumbai also experienced significant funding, raising $102 million, albeit with a higher median round size of $5 million.
When it comes to investments in AI startups, India has witnessed consistent growth in funding over recent years. The total investment for AI startups in India during 2024 reached $164.9 million, which is over 50 percent up from $108.3 million in 2023.
From 2019 to 2025, AI-focused startups in India have consistently attracted vital investments, underlining India's growing significance in the global AI landscape, according to Traxcn data.
With over 1.59 lakh startups recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), India has firmly established itself as the third-largest startup ecosystem worldwide.
Last week, around 21 Indian startups collectively raised approximately $105.87 million, securing funding at various stages. Among them, three startups received growth-stage funding, while 16 early-stage startups attracted investments.
In the preceding week, nearly 22 startups raised about $184.4 million. On average, over the past eight weeks, startup funding has averaged approximately $317.35 million per week, with around 28 deals occurring weekly.
