Vung Tau, June 25 (NationPress) - Showcasing their exceptional skills on the global stage, the Indian Under-17 Women's Wrestling Team has claimed the Champion Team title at the Under-17 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Vung Tau, Vietnam, from June 18 to 26, 2025.
This victory follows the recent triumph of the Under-23 Women's Wrestling Team at the Under-23 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Vietnam, as the Under-17 wrestlers demonstrated remarkable perseverance, determination, and talent, continuing India's winning streak.
The Indian Women's Team excelled in various weight categories, amassing a total of 10 medals – 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze, thereby securing the Champion Trophy with 215 points. China followed in second place with 151 points, while Japan secured third position with 149 points.
In the 43 kg category, Rachna displayed dominance by defeating a formidable Japanese opponent with a decisive 9-0 victory to earn the Gold Medal.
Rutuja, competing in the 46 kg category, exhibited an impressive performance, beginning with a victory over a Japanese wrestler in the qualification round and continuing her success in the finals with a 10-0 win against an Uzbek competitor to claim the Gold Medal.
