New Delhi, Oct 19 (NationPress) India's automobile exports have experienced a remarkable 26% increase during the July-September quarter, surpassing 16.85 lakh units. This is a significant rise compared to 13.35 lakh units in the same quarter of the previous year, showcasing the growing acceptance of India-made vehicles such as cars, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers in global markets, as reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The export of passenger vehicles, which includes cars, SUVs, and utility vehicles, surged by 23% to 2,41,554 units in the July-September quarter of 2025-26, up from 1,96,196 units from the same period last year.
Car exports alone rose by 20.5% to 1,25,513 units in the second quarter, compared to 1,04,196 units in the corresponding quarter last year, while the shipment of utility vehicles to foreign markets saw a 26% increase to 1,13,374 units.
Van exports recorded an impressive 39% year-on-year growth, reaching 2,667 units.
Leading the charge is Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car manufacturer, with exports totaling 2,05,763 units, followed closely by Hyundai Motor India, which exported 99,540 units.
Two-wheeler exports also showed a healthy growth of 25%, hitting 12,95,468 units in the July-September quarter, up from 10,35,997 units last year. Within this category, motorcycle exports soared by 27% to 11,08,109 units, while scooter shipments increased by 12% to 1,77,957 units.
Moreover, mo-ped exports have also gained substantial momentum in the international market, with exports rising over fourfold to 9,402 units from 2,028 units in the previous year.
Three-wheeler exports witnessed a remarkable surge of 51%, totaling 1,23,480 units compared to the same period last year.
Overall, commercial vehicle exports achieved a double-digit growth of 22%, amounting to 24,011 units compared to the last year.
The President of SIAM, Shailesh Chandra, emphasized that the impressive export growth across all segments during the July-September quarter signifies the increasing brand acceptance of made-in-India vehicles.
