Is IndiGo Keeping Up with Operations by Flying Over 2,000 Flights for Two Consecutive Days?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) IndiGo has successfully operated over 2,000 flights for the second consecutive day, as announced by the airline on Saturday.
This achievement follows significant disruptions earlier this month, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at various airports across the country.
According to its revised schedule, which was adjusted in accordance with government directives, the airline stated that it is "exhibiting ongoing operational normalization and stability for the last five days, with plans to operate over 2,050 flights."
"All our 138 operational destinations are connected, and our on-time performance is consistently meeting IndiGo's standards," the statement continued.
IndiGo has been steadily increasing its flight operations, having handled over 1,700 flights on December 8, rising to over 1,800 on December 9, and surpassing 1,900 and 1,950 on December 10 and 11, respectively.
On December 12, the airline reported operating over 2,050 flights with only two cancellations due to technical issues, ensuring that affected customers were promptly rebooked on alternative flights.
It is anticipated that the number of flights on December 13 will exceed 2,050, according to the statement.
Following the major disruptions that impacted the domestic civil aviation sector due to the airline's operational failures, IndiGo has engaged an independent aviation consultancy, Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, to conduct a thorough review and pinpoint the causes of the issues.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated in the Lok Sabha that it would be impractical for the government to impose a cap on airfares throughout the year in a deregulated market.
The Aviation Minister emphasized that regulating airfares is "not a one-way solution," as the government must consider the long-term sustainability of the entire aviation ecosystem, including airlines, airports, and their interconnecting operational networks.
