Indore, March 30 (NationPress) A female software engineer tragically lost her life after protesting against the commercial use of a penthouse in her residential complex. Her husband revealed that she intended to sell their flat and relocate, as their family was exhausted by the ongoing late-night disturbances in the community.

Shampa Pandey was fatally struck by a car during a confrontation at Shiv Vatika Township on March 26. Her decision to move was motivated by the constant disruptions from the penthouse activities.

"Shampa was deeply troubled by the noise from the commercial activities, especially during the night. We had agreed to sell our current home and were actively searching for a new place. We even found a potential flat and had a cheque ready, but planned to finalize the payment on our next visit," her husband, Saurabh Pandey, shared with IANS on Monday.

Saurabh noted that Shampa's decisions were crucial for their family, and her untimely death has shattered their future plans.

Now, Saurabh is left to care for his elderly parents and their two young sons, aged seven and ten. He mentioned that Shampa had recently identified a new flat at DB Pride just before the incident.

On March 22, local councillors convened a meeting attended by Shampa, where residents unanimously opposed the renting of the penthouse for commercial purposes. Kuldeep Choudhary, whose son was involved in Shampa's death, acknowledged this during the meeting.

The police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and both Kuldeep and his 18-year-old son Mohnish were escorted to the scene by a team from the Lasudia police station amid tight security on Sunday afternoon. Residents expressed their outrage and called for the death penalty for both father and son.

Meanwhile, a team from the Indore Municipal Corporation (BMC) visited Shiv Vatika Township to investigate the number of properties owned by Choudhary within the complex. They interacted with residents and issued a notice concerning the illegal commercial activities.

Saurabh expressed his disappointment, stating, "None of the public representatives from either the ruling BJP or the opposition Congress visited to offer condolences. Only municipal councillor Rakesh Solanki, who attempted to mediate, reached out to us."

Shampa Pandey was cremated on March 27. Originally from Jabalpur, she was married to Saurabh, whose family hails from Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh.

On the night of March 26, Kuldeep Chaudhary, who owns multiple penthouses in the complex, engaged in a heated argument with residents, including Shampa's husband. He then summoned his son Mohnish, leading to a physical confrontation.

Afterward, the Chaudhary family, including Kuldeep, his wife, and son Mohnish, departed the scene in their Swift car. Mohnish, who was driving, allegedly accelerated towards a group of residents. While some managed to escape, Shampa could not avoid being struck, resulting in her fatal injuries.

A murder case has been filed following the arrest of the father and son on Thursday.
