Indore, March 27 (NationPress) Kuldeep Choudhary and his 18-year-old son Mohnish, who face allegations of murdering software engineer Shampa Panday (42), were placed in police custody for two days on Friday. Shampa had recently relocated with her family to a new residence in Shiv Vatika Township, Indore.
The police presented the father and son before a district court, requesting custody to continue their investigation. A police spokesperson indicated that they would be taken to the crime scene for identification in the presence of local residents.
A team from the Lasudia police station conducted an inquiry at the society on Friday evening, questioning several residents who were present during the incident that occurred on Wednesday night.
During discussions with the community, police gathered detailed information about Kuldeep Choudhary and his son, including insights into their behavior and ownership of multiple properties, such as a penthouse.
Gaurav Naik, a resident and the head of the Resident Welfare Association of Shiv Vatika Township, confirmed the developments to IANS, stating that a police team had come to seek information regarding Kuldeep’s flats within the society. He also noted that a forensic team visited the scene to collect samples.
Naik mentioned that Shampa Panday's body was cremated after the arrival of her family members, including her sister and relatives from Jabalpur and Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh.
Shampa was originally from Jabalpur and married to Saurabh Pandey, whose family hails from Ayodhya. The couple had two young sons and had moved into their first-floor apartment on March 13.
