Indore Residents' Association Bans Bachelors from Renting Flats After Software Engineer's Tragic Death
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, March 26 (NationPress) Following the tragic death of a female software engineer, allegedly struck by a vehicle during a dispute in Sagarshree Enclave, the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) has enacted a ban on leasing flats to bachelors. Gaurav Naik, the president of the Sagarshree Enclave community, informed IANS that local residents have raised concerns regarding disturbances caused by bachelors residing in the area.
“Numerous residents have voiced complaints about the disturbances stemming from bachelors living here. As a result, the committee has resolved to implement this ban. I have communicated through the society’s WhatsApp group, urging all flat owners, particularly those renting to bachelors, to lease only to families,” Naik stated.
He noted that the construction of the Sagarshree Enclave was completed several months ago, and residents have begun moving into their apartments over the past six weeks.
“Approximately three thousand individuals now reside here. The penthouse is unauthorized. Most residents have only recently relocated. We are currently in conflict with the builder regarding several development issues. Despite our requests, we have yet to receive any amenities or facilities, and the builder continues to disregard our concerns,” he explained.
Naik further claimed that the developer has transferred ownership of the flats to owners, and all management duties, including security and parking, have been handed over to the society’s committee; however, they are still awaiting a non-objection certificate (NOC) from the Indore Municipal Corporation.
The incident took place on Wednesday during an argument regarding the commercial use of a penthouse in the community. Naik mentioned that at the time, four to five children were playing nearby, fortunately unharmed.
The victim, identified as Sampada Pathak, a software engineer, was allegedly struck by a vehicle driven by Mohit, the son of Kuldeep Choudhary, a resident who has two flats in the area.
According to police reports, a confrontation erupted between several flat owners against commercial activities and Choudhary, who had rented out his penthouses for commercial purposes. Amid the heated exchange, Mohit reportedly drove the vehicle into a group of residents, injuring Sampada.
She was promptly transported to Bombay Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries late Wednesday night. The entire occurrence was documented by CCTV cameras installed within the building.
Authorities have arrested both Kuldeep Choudhary and his son Mohit, and an investigation is currently in progress.
