Nanded, Nov 30 (NationPress) In a shocking event, a woman, whose boyfriend was reportedly murdered by her own family, applied vermilion in his honor and pledged to live her life in his home, located in Maharashtra's Nanded district.
The victim, 20-year-old Saksham Tate, suffered brutal violence including being beaten severely, having his head crushed with a stone, and was ultimately shot by the woman's relatives due to caste-related tensions.
During Tate's funeral, his girlfriend, Aanchal, adorned her forehead with vermilion and declared her intention to reside in his home as a daughter-in-law.
Aanchal, who originally met Tate through her brothers, fell in love with him during his frequent visits to their residence.
However, their relationship faced obstacles due to caste differences, prompting Aanchal's family to pressure her to end her three-year relationship with Tate.
Despite facing numerous threats, Aanchal remained steadfast by Tate's side.
The situation escalated when Aanchal's family discovered her intention to marry Tate.
On Thursday, Aanchal's father and brothers attacked him, leading to his tragic death.
At the last rites, Aanchal arrived at his home, applied turmeric on his body, and marked her forehead with vermilion.
Following her symbolic 'marriage' to Tate, she resolved to live in his home indefinitely as his wife. "Our love triumphed, even in Saksham's demise, while my father and brothers failed," she stated.
Explaining her reasoning, Aanchal asserted, "Though Tate is gone, our love remains alive." She has also called for the death penalty for her boyfriend's murderers.
The police have initiated a case and arrested six individuals in connection with Tate's murder. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.
