Chandigarh, Dec 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, expressed on Friday that the tale of the sacrifices made by the family of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, serves as a profound source of inspiration for everyone, each time it is read, heard, or comprehended, as he made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s welfare.
At the state-level Veer Bal Diwas event held in Sirsa, six lakh students from 3,450 schools took part in essay competitions conducted in Hindi, Punjabi, English, and Sanskrit.
The top positions were claimed by Priyanka from Jind (Hindi), Charanjit Kaur from Kaithal (Punjabi), Ridhvi from Ambala (Sanskrit), and Jasleen Kaur from Ambala (English).
CM Saini remarked that the government is diligently working to spread the teachings and values of the Sikh Gurus to the broader community.
In honor of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, various programs were organized throughout the state, fostering a continuous wave of awareness and respect towards sacrifice.
“His martyrdom illustrates that no matter how severe injustice may be, it cannot lead one away from the path of truth. His sacrifice embodies the spirit of India and will forever inspire future generations to pursue the path of righteousness, bravery, and self-respect,” the Chief Minister stated.
He noted that the celebration of Veer Bal Diwas honors the everlasting martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh. Being amidst the people on the historic soil of Sirsa filled him with pride and reverence.
“Today, the nation pays homage to that great legacy which protected India’s identity and guided humanity on the path of supreme sacrifice for faith and truth,” he added.
CM Saini remarked that history does not provide any parallel to the innocent children who chose to be bricked alive for their faith, yet refused to submit.
“Between December 20 and 27, 1705, all members of the Guru’s family laid down their lives within a week to protect their religion and the common people. This week will be permanently inscribed in our history,” he stated.
He concluded by asserting that the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas will continue to instill the spirit of patriotism in future generations.
“With this in mind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared their martyrdom day to be observed annually as Veer Bal Diwas,” the Chief Minister added.
