Tehran, June 14 (NationPress) The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, declared on Saturday that discussions regarding nuclear agreements with the United States have become "meaningless" following Israel's military actions.
During a press briefing in Tehran, Baghaei criticized the US for its alleged complicity in these aggressive moves, expressing uncertainty about Iran's next steps concerning the forthcoming round of indirect negotiations with the US over the nuclear deal. These talks are set to occur on Sunday in Muscat, Oman.
Baghaei stated, "The other side (the US) has acted in a manner that renders dialogue meaningless. It's contradictory to claim you want to negotiate while simultaneously permitting Israel to target Iranian soil," as reported by Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency.
He further commented, “It is inconceivable that such an act could occur without US consent.”
On Friday, former President Donald Trump expressed via social media that he had provided Iran with numerous opportunities to finalize a nuclear agreement, urging them to act before it’s too late.
Trump wrote, "I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to 'just do it,' but no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't finalize it. I warned them of severe consequences, as the US possesses superior military capabilities, especially with Israel's assistance."
He added, "Certain Iranian hardliners spoke defiantly, unaware of the impending consequences. They are all gone now, and it can only worsen! There has already been significant loss of life, but there's still a chance to avert further destruction. Iran must reach a deal before it's too late."
Also on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced 'Operation Rising Lion,' a targeted military initiative aimed at countering the Iranian nuclear threat to Israel's existence, asserting that the operation will persist until the danger is neutralized.
In the meantime, tensions in the Middle East intensified early Saturday, as reports indicated Iran initiated a new series of missile strikes against Israel. This renewed offensive occurs amid escalating hostilities between the two nations.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack, reporting that a barrage of missiles was launched towards Israeli territory.
In a brief statement, the military declared, “Another barrage has been fired towards Israel,” although they did not immediately disclose the number of missiles or specific targeted areas.
