Tel Aviv, March 1 (NationPress) Oren Marmorstein, spokesperson for Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accused the Iranian government on Sunday of intentionally targeting civilians with ballistic missiles, labeling these attacks as "war crimes." He emphasized that Israel's military operations focus exclusively on military objectives.
Speaking from a residential area in Tel Aviv that was hit by a missile, Marmorstein highlighted the clear signs of what he referred to as "ballistic terror" executed by Iran.
"What you see behind me is the aftermath of the Iranian regime's ballistic terror. This missile was directed at a civilian neighborhood, where we had children and elderly residents. They are deliberately targeting innocent civilians," he added.
Marmorstein contrasted Israel's military actions with those of Iran, stating, "This is the complete opposite of what Israel is doing. We focus on military targets, while the Iranian regime attacks our civilians — our children, women, and the elderly."
He claimed that Iran's missile strikes extend beyond Israel, affecting the entire region.
"This isn't just happening in Israel. The Iranian regime is launching attacks across the region. Eight countries have been targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles — not just Israel but also Arab nations," he asserted.
Marmorstein clarified that Israel's conflict is not with the Iranian populace but with the governing authorities in Tehran.
"We hold no animosity towards the Iranian people. Our focus is solely on the Iranian regime, which is responsible for murders and assaults," he stated.
Labeling the missile attacks as a "war crime," he noted that civilians, including foreign nationals, have been impacted.
"Targeting civilians, elderly women, and even the murder of a caregiver from the Philippines is a war crime. The Iranian regime is not only attacking us in Israel but is threatening the entire region. This violence must be stopped, and that is our objective," he remarked.
Referring to the specific building where he was speaking, he mentioned that one Filipina woman lost her life and many others were injured in the missile strike.
"In this building, a Filipino woman was killed, and dozens sustained injuries. This is not an isolated incident. Everyone here was forced into shelters. You may not have captured it on your cameras, but you were clearly targeted by an attack from the Iranian regime. This violence must come to an end," he concluded.
