New Delhi/Bengaluru, Dec 2 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai commented on the recent breakfast meeting between Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, stating, "The breakfast meeting is merely a teaser; the actual drama is yet to unfold. The real story will be revealed soon. Picture abhi baaki hai."

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday, he asserted that in the coming days, "the true nature of the Congress party's internal dynamics will come to light."

"While they indulge in breakfasts together, who is prioritizing the welfare and progress of the state's citizens? One is attempting to pull the chair from under the other, while the other is desperately clinging to it," he claimed.

When asked about the Congress high command's inability to address internal strife since the party's return to power two and a half years ago, Bommai questioned, "Where is the Congress high command? Who holds that title? When AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge states he is not the high command, what does that even mean? This has devolved into a family feud."

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka criticized the Congress-led government for their frequent breakfast meetings, stating on X, "Concerning statistics reveal that 558 fatalities have occurred due to potholes in five major cities within the past 11 months. Innocent lives are being lost on the roads because of the mismanagement and incompetence of the Congress-led Karnataka government."

"As deadly as death itself, potholes have become rampant across the state. Roads have fallen into disrepair. Despite continuous public outcry, the government remains fixated on power-sharing, breakfast meetings, and self-serving interests. This is an utter disgrace," Ashoka added.

Earlier, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah enjoyed idli and 'natikoli saaru' (a chicken gravy dish) during a breakfast meeting at Deputy CM Shivakumar's residence.

Along with Shivakumar's brother D.K. Suresh and Congress MLA H.D. Ranganath, a staunch supporter of Shivakumar, they participated in the breakfast gathering.

On X, Deputy CM Shivakumar expressed, "I hosted the Hon’ble CM for breakfast today, reaffirming our commitment to effective governance and the ongoing development of our state under the Congress vision."

The meeting, held at Shivakumar's residence in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru, is significant as the party aims to convey a message of unity ahead of the Assembly's Winter Session, set to commence on December 8 in Belagavi.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated alongside Deputy CM Shivakumar that they are like brothers and will continue to collaborate for the party. When questioned about Shivakumar's potential ascent to the Chief Minister role, Siddaramaiah noted that it would happen when the high command decides.

“I accepted Shivakumar's invitation for breakfast. He had previously visited my residence and invited me for a meal. Today, I took that invitation and had breakfast with him,” he explained.

“We discussed party matters, particularly with the Winter Session starting on December 8 and lasting for two weeks. We strategized for the upcoming challenges. The BJP is preparing for a no-confidence motion, and we addressed those issues as well. We will confront them decisively. Leaders from BJP-JD(S), including Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, have already engaged in discussions. We also deliberated on how to approach the Assembly session,” he concluded.
