New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated Jai Anmol Anil Ambani, son of Anil Ambani, on Friday regarding the Rs 228 crore bank fraud case tied to Reliance Home Finance Ltd (RHFL).
As a suspect in this case, Jai Anmol faced questioning for approximately 6.5 hours by CBI officials at their headquarters in the capital city.
He is scheduled to return for additional questioning before the investigating officer on Saturday.
The CBI lodged the case on December 6, 2025, related to this bank fraud, implicating Reliance Home Finance Ltd., Jai Anmol Anil Ambani, Ravindra Sudhalkar, and other unidentified individuals, including public servants.
The investigation was prompted by a complaint from the Union Bank of India, which accused the involved parties of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and criminal misconduct, resulting in a significant financial loss of Rs 228.06 crore to the bank.
On September 30, 2019, the account of RHFL was classified as a non-performing asset (NPA) and, subsequently, as a fraud on October 10, 2024, by the Union Bank of India.
RHFL had borrowed a total of Rs. 5572.35 crores from 18 banks, financial institutions, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), and corporate entities, including Union Bank of India. The CBI is conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations of fraud against all lenders.
On December 9, 2025, the CBI, having obtained search warrants from the Special Judge for CBI in Mumbai, conducted searches at two official locations of Reliance Home Finance Ltd., as well as at the residences of Jai Anmol Ambani, the former director of RHFL, and Sudhalkar, the ex-CEO and whole-time director of RHFL. Several incriminating documents were seized during these searches.
