Jaipur, Dec 31 (NationPress) Jaipur Lok Sabha MP Manju Sharma has requested Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to accelerate the progress of the Jaipur Ring Rail Project, asserting that this initiative will pave the way for the city’s sustainable future.
MP Sharma presented a memorandum to the Railway Minister, stressing that collaborative efforts from both the Centre and the state can revolutionize Jaipur’s urban and transport scenarios.
Pointing out the city’s rapid expansion, MP Sharma mentioned that Jaipur’s population has surged to nearly 60 lakh.
As a prominent tourist hub, state capital, and vital economic center, the city is grappling with escalating traffic challenges.
With numerous suburban developments emerging in the peripheries, the Ring Rail Project will significantly enhance connectivity in outer regions, promote tourism, elevate logistics and business activities, alleviate congestion, and reduce traffic snarls within the city, while also alleviating the burden on major railway stations.
The proposed rail corridor will facilitate the transit of freight trains and the operation of special tourist trains.
The Jaipur Ring Rail Project is slated for completion in two to three phases, in accordance with the Jaipur Master Plan 2050. The rail line will run parallel to the ring road, at distances varying from 200–300 metres in certain sections to 2–3 kilometres in others.
This development is anticipated to boost property values along the corridor and stimulate the establishment of new townships.
In the initial phase, 13 new railway stations will be introduced to enhance connectivity in Jaipur’s outskirts. These stations will include: Kanarwas, Goner, Prahladpura, Shivdaspura, Sukhdevpura, Vatika, Sanganer Road, Newta, Kalwara, Bagru, Begas, and Bobas.
In her correspondence, MP Manju Sharma also underscored the “historic transformation” of Indian Railways under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting initiatives such as Vande Bharat trains, modernized railway stations, track electrification, improved sanitation, and enhanced passenger facilities.
She remarked that the Rajasthan government is concurrently advancing projects related to roads, ring roads, metro expansion, and other urban initiatives to elevate Jaipur to a world-class capital.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw previously discussed the development of a ring railway around Jaipur during his visit to the city in January 2024.
