Srinagar, Nov 13 (NationPress) The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police announced on Thursday that they have sought the assistance of Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against an individual from Kulgam district, who is implicated in an interstate white-collar terrorism module recently dismantled in Faridabad, Haryana.
Dr. Muzaffar is the sibling of Dr. Adil Rather, who was taken into custody after an AK-47 rifle was found in his locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag.
It is noteworthy that he had resigned from his position at the medical college in October 2024.
Dr. Muzaffar’s name emerged during the questioning of those apprehended. Investigations have indicated that he was part of a medical team that visited Turkey in 2021 alongside Muzammil Ganaie and Umar Nabi, the latter being the driver of the explosives-laden vehicle that detonated outside the Red Fort on Monday, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and injuring many more.
Upon discovering his whereabouts, police attempted to track Dr. Muzaffar, only to learn that he had departed from India to Dubai in August. He is currently believed to be in Afghanistan. Authorities reported that Dr. Muzaffar, Dr. Mohd Umar, and Dr. Muzammil Ganaie spent 21 days in Turkey.
On Wednesday, Turkey’s Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation released a statement refuting claims that its territory was being used for radicalization.
“Reports suggesting that Turkey is associated with terrorist activities in India and offers logistical, diplomatic, or financial backing to terrorist organizations are part of a malicious disinformation effort aimed at harming bilateral relations,” stated the Turkish Directorate of Communication, adding that the assertion that Turkey engages in “radicalization activities” directed at India or any other nation is “entirely misleading and lacks any factual backing.”
The recent operation conducted by J&K Police in collaboration with Haryana Police in Faridabad unearthed an interstate white-collar terror network that was preparing to execute terrorist acts in Delhi.
One member of this group, Dr. Mohd Umar, managed to evade capture and was subsequently killed in a blast near the Red Fort in Delhi while transporting explosives in a vehicle.
